Acceptance and Commitment Therapy for Demoralization Syndrome and Cancer-related Trauma: A Randomized Clinical Trial Study

Background: Many women with breast cancer in the process of diagnosing, treating, and surviving show psychological distress such as hopelessness cancer-related stress. On other hand, Acceptance Commitment Therapy (ACT) a intervention provides good model for coping disease. Objectives: This study aimed at investigating effectiveness ACT on demoralization syndrome trauma patients survivors. Methods: The present was clinical trial pre-test post-test. It performed 52 survivors referred to Golestan Cancer Patients Association Gorgan 2020. Initially, participants were selected by convenient sampling randomly divided into two treatment groups (patients group group) control group). Then, underwent 8 consecutive weekly sessions, but did not receive any intervention. data obtained, using Demoralization Scale (DS) Post-traumatic Stress Disorder Checklist DSM-5 (PCL-5) analyzed multivariate analysis covariance (MANCOVA). Results: results showed significant difference components PCL-5 between (P < 0.05). Also, there no > 0.05) except feeling failure component = 0.048).
